LGBTQ* MURAL

Members of the LGBTQ* community fear imprisonment or the death penalty in 77 countries around the world. In many other places they are faced with discrimination and hostility. Stereotypes and prejudices exists against any form of sexuality that does not correspond to the predominantly postulated heteronormativity in these countries.
The mural is painted in the colors of the rainbow flag which was designed by Gilbert Baker in 1978. By reducing and abstracting the shape of the human body the depicted figures cannot be assigned to a specific gender nor nationality. The mural aims to represent a diverse and tolerant society, a society free of discrimination.
The mural was painted for a groupshow in Sankt Petersburg, Russia at the SAM in 2018.
